From Glory To Glory

2 Corinthians 3:18

But we all, with unveiled faces, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

The Christian life is made up of various seasons, seasons of blessing, trials, learning, hope, growth, pain, and many more. It seems that passing through some of these can hurt really bad and you desperately want the pain to stop. I used to say I wished I could go back to a 4th grade Saturday when everything was right. I could wake up with no dread, then calmly get up and do the day.

The killer part of being an adult is that you survive one such season of trouble and start to celebrate only to get a phone call that starts everything all over again. It doesn’t take many cycles like that to really get you on edge, calling out to God, “What have I done wrong? I’ll do or change anything, just tell me what You want.” The longer you question and cry out, the more frantic you get, begging for the trial to end and blessing to return. This is where comparing yourself with other believers starts growing and great discouragement begins to set in because your situation is so much worse than everybody else’s.

You know what? Welcome to Christianity Training Camp 101 where God has one objective – transforming you into the image of Christ and His glory. “Glory to glory” means it’s going to be a long process, probably much longer than you desire, but long enough for God to have His way and you become a sharer in His glory. So rejoice, surrender, look up, give Him thanks and receive your victory when it comes. (Hint: it will)

You’ll know you’re making progress when someone says, “You know, there’s something different about you, can you tell me about it?”
