Titus 3:5-7
5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit
6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior
7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
What a glorious truth! If you are a born-again Christian it’s all your truth. God has saved you and blest You and you haven’t earned one speck of it. God in His infinite mercy has done it all. He chose to wipe out your sin debt, wash you clean, and renew your life by the ministry of the Holy Spirit which He poured out upon you so richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.
The result is that you are justified by His grace and made an heir according to the hope of eternal life.
Have you ever sinned, transgressed, or broken God’s Law?
Have you ever misspoken, gossiped, or told a lie?
Have you ever thought of evil against anyone?
What then? Condemnation, you’re guilty after all.
But you are reading three little verses that tell a different story — a story of love, forgiveness, and redemption. All by God doing what only He can do — He saved you when you sought His mercy. He made you a joint heir with Jesus for time and eternity according to the hope of eternal life.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Celebrate! The lost sinner is found and at home now, just as if you never sinned. Grace causes tears of joy to cancel the sorrow and confusion of lostness.
