1 Timothy 6:12
12 Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
Living by faith is a battle because so much is at stake. It’s the only life that pleases God so satan opposes it as does the world system he invented. Religion prefers legalism and pious strutting around to the sincerity of faith. You are living in faith when you are seeing and obeying God’s point of view for your life. The afore-mentioned enemies of faith advocate for a life of independence having little to no interest in what God is doing or wants to have done, rather pursuing fame or fortune, but at least doing things their way.
The second point in the verse provides the undergirding for the first – take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, that is punch through the artificial boundary of the natural realm and vigorously grasp eternal things. Make them your reality, devote yourself to them. When you make such commitments they shape your thinking, feelings, and living. Good confession flows from you and back to you as God steadily aligns everything about you with Him and His glory.
It's time to step up and stand up as you hear the voice of God calling you to hold on to what matters for time and eternity. Are you ready?
