Most Fruit

Galatians 5:22, 23

Faithfulness, gentleness and self-control

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; are the fruits that yield longevity and against such things, there is no law. Faithfulness means you finish what you start without deviating from the course along the way.

One pastor I worked for said, “George, all you have are start buttons.” I’ve worked on that for 50 years, that is calling on the Holy Spirit to fill and control me . . . with some level of success. The times He has born the fruit of faithfulness in my life usually point up the importance of being a finisher because people are watching and being influenced by what you do.

Gentleness is another stand-out in the crowd. We look to the examples on the sports arenas and give high marks to the often intentionally harsh way the coaches handle the players. Admiration is poured out on the brutal guys and the intimidation tactics they use are lauded consistently. A little less of all that macho stuff and a whole lot more gentleness and self-control could go a long way in team building, winning, and various championships. And I’m pretty sure that the “W’s” have a way of piling up on the bottom line.

Always remember that these 9 character qualities are brought about by the Holy Spirit bearing fruit in your life, so yield to Him and be amazed at what He can do in and through you. Against such things, there is no law.
