Peaceful Living

Isaiah 26:3

Rekindle The Flame Ministries

The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace because he trusts in You.

The mind that doesn’t wander. The person who trusts in God. This is the one whom God keeps in perfect peace. Peter expressed similar thoughts in 1 Peter 1:13. Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, and fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

All of the statements come down to the same thing – disciplined thinking. 2 Timothy 1:6,7. As you face your day you need to set some boundaries for your thoughts. Review Philippians 4:6-8 and commit to confining your mind to the things in verse 8. Peter says to prepare your minds for action. A person with a scattered mind won’t be able to take action when he finds his mind in disarray at a critical moment. Will there be some thoughts that you will simply reject?

God is promising perfect peace to the person with a steadfast mind who trusts in God.

The devil and the world will attack your mind and try to take control of it. Worldly thinking is wrapped up in three desires described in 1 John 2:15-17 the desire to acquire, the desire to indulge, and the desire to impress. Engaging in thoughts that involve these three desires will erode your steadfastness, break your discipline and disrupt God’s peace.

One more phrase out of all of this – fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revealing of Jesus Christ is a huge factor in determining the outcome.

  • What are you hoping for today?

  • Something in the material realm?

  • How about the spiritual?

  • Are you eager to have the grace in your life that will be dispensed the day He is revealed?

That can determine your whole life really. Are you in passionate desire for God’s grace or do you not really care that much one way or another? You can see the battle that is apt to heat up right here over hope. Hope is the biggest motivator for any sort of behavior. If you don’t have the expectation of some kind of reward, you likely won’t do what you are being asked to do.

If your hope is completely anchored in the grace you’ll receive on the day Jesus is revealed, you will have a steadfast mind, and if you have a steadfast mind you will know God’s peace.
