1 John 5:11-13
11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
The promise of God is that in Jesus he has given us eternal life. Everyone who has Jesus has eternal life, and he who doesn’t have Jesus doesn’t have eternal life. Do you have Jesus?
You come to have Him by believing in His name. That happens by confessing your faith in Jesus’ name as your Savior. “God, I believe in Jesus’ name as a representative of His person. I receive Him as eternal life, therefore I know I have eternal life and it can never be taken away or lost. I have eternal life because of my faith and Jesus’ promise and I am secure in Him forever. John’s letter is written so I can know I have eternal life.
One day I will pass from the natural realm to the supernatural as my eternal life unfolds forever. So what do you know about eternal life? It’s eternal and since I have Jesus, I have it and can never lose it. I make mistakes from time to time, even sin, but Jesus restores me and my eternal life is always secure. Thank you, Jesus!
